Main trends in the development of the Russian economy: realities and prospects

Abstract. The article analyzes the problems and prospects of development of the Russian economy. The aim of the study is to identify the key factors affecting the country’s economic growth in the conditions of crises, political instability and sanctions pressure. Socio-economic, environmental and production problems, as well as the history of Russia’s economic development are considered. Attention is paid to socio-economic inequality and poverty of the population. Successes in transportation policy, medicine and education are emphasized, as well as the importance of international cooperation with leading countries such as China and India. Prospects for the Russian economy are efficiency improvement, industrial production renewal, digitalization and growth of competitiveness in the global market.
